Pickleball Demo at Roscoe YMCA
To kick off International Pickleball Week several of our members gave a Pickleball demonstration at the YMCA in Roscoe, Illinois on April 12th to an audience of about thirty people. First, Chuck Kurt gave a brief history of the game as well as a summary of its rules. Then members Pat Freed, Dennis Wilke, Carol Wilke, and I played a demonstration game while Chuck explained the format of the game and answered any questions from the audience. Afterwards several people from the audience borrowed our paddles to experience the thrill of playing Pickleball. It was amazing and fun to watch the joy of someone new playing pickleball. Northern Illinois Pickleball is about to gain new members! Thank you Chuck, Pat, Dennis, and Carol for all your help!

"Dimke said there were programs, such as Pickleball, that were driven by resident request. There were six courts constructed last year in Sinnissippi Park for Pickleball, a sport that uses a wooden paddle and whiffle ball. It was also the first full year of indoor play at the Indoor Sports Center, with 960 visits from Pickleball participants."
